Transphobia has no place in a modern society
You post any trans related content online and invariably you receive a deluge of anti-trans hate pouring in. Indeed, its almost as if the transphobic Twitteratti can sense it through the algorithms, they flock together like carrion birds, except actual vultures play a vital part in nature. Transphobia, like any form of xenophobia, is based on fear, hate, and abuse of power. Must of the rhetoric used has its roots in racism, antisemitism, and homophobia, all of which have taught transphobes how to effectively demonise trans women simply because they can. It bears repeating each and every time that transphobia has no place in a modern society for precisely the same reasons any form of xenophobia has no place: you have no right to police the identity of others based on your own fears and prejudices.
A favourite tactic of transphobes is straight of the antisemitic playbook, showing images of trans folk, usually trans women, who they accuse of hyper sexualising femininity while also failing to pass their own perceived standards of womanhood. It infuriates me on so many levels. Firstly, there are plenty of cis women who post sexualised images of themselves online.
